We want nothing less than a completely technology-enabled environment, in which everyone takes full advantage of IT to meet their goals. Two principles guide our way.

We completely surround the community with IT in all aspects of life at VTM— academics, career planning, student life, operations and administration, everything. Through constant exposure to technology, everyone at VTM builds information expertise and considers IT a normal part of daily life.

We believe in "disintermediation" — creating easy-to-use, multipurpose Web-based tools, then sending them out into the community for people to use as they see fit. From creating polls to collaborating on projects, anyone at VTM can take advantage of IT on their own, without the time or expense of custom development. They also help us push the boundaries of IT by using or combining technologies in ways we might not consider As in most endeavors, the appropriate tool magnifies human creativity and imagination and makes the impossible possible. Our current projects are in writing and enforcing partial specifications about programs, new methods to find concurrency errors in programs, and new methodologies for designing software aided by such tools.
